The Orange Economy, also known as the Creative Economy, refers to economic activities that leverage creativity, culture, and intellectual property to generate wealth and jobs. It encompasses industries rooted in cultural expression, such as arts, music, film, design, and more.

it refers to all business rooted in creativity, involving things like art, culture, research, science and technology. That’s why some call it the “creative economy”.

It used to centre on the industry of art and culture. But as the influence of technology grew over time, it started to involve new sectors, like telecommunications, robotics, coding and content creation, where ideas could be turned into good and services.

Global Market

According to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Orange Economy accounts for 3% of global gross domestic product (GDP) and 30 million jobs worldwide. Inspired by ideas, it’s known for constant innovation, singular products (not mass production) and digitalized processes.

Summit, Trade Fair, Art display and performances are staged as International Trade. WAVES 2025,a four-day summit, was held in Mumbai from 1st to 4th May 2025. The summit witnessed participation from over 90 countries, with more than ten thousand delegates. The PM stated that this is the right time to “create in India and create for the world”.

Orange or Creative Economy is the new I.T. for the world. This “soft” power boosts the economy of any country that is into Creative Economy.

India’s creative economy already contributes $30 billion to GDP, employing 8% of the workforce. Creative exports exceed $11 billion annually, and sectors like YouTube and digital design are enabling small-town creators to reach global audiences.
